Sydney council extends, widens free period products in public bathrooms initiative

Sydney's Inner West Council has extended and widened its state-first initiative to provide free pads and tampons in public bathrooms.

Last year, the council aimed to address "period poverty" by rolling out dispensing machines stocked with period products at 10 sites, including community centres, libraries and swimming centres.

Data from the trial found a high demand at five key locations; Addison Road Community Centre, Ashfield Aquatic Centre, Ashfield Library, Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre, and Marrickville Library.
